A Transformative Kung Fu Journey: From Overcoming Personal Struggles to Inner Peace

My story is one of radical change, determination, and self-discovery. Join me as I recount my journey from feeling lost and unfulfilled to finding peace and clarity through the practice of Kung Fu. Emil.

Reaching Deep Within: A New Beginning

This place finally helped me reach the deepest corners of myself, shedding light on parts I struggled to find. Almost a year ago, I found myself in a body I didn't like. I was gaming over five hours a day, watching Netflix all the time, feeling insecure, and overweight by over 20 kilos. Frustrated, I knew I needed to do something.

The Decision to Change

Inspired by David Goggins' book, Can't Hurt Me, I decided to take action. I started training six times a week, which created a snowball effect. Cold showers, long fasting, and seeing results motivated me even more. Meditation played a significant role, helping me realize I needed to sell everything, quit my job, and buy a one-way ticket to Asia.

The Physical and Mental Challenges

At the beginning of my journey, I lost 20 kilos. Before coming here, I trained at a Muay Thai camp for two months, which was transformative but physically tiring. Kung Fu training proved even more exhausting, not just physically but mentally. The 12-hour days, from six in the morning to six in the evening, were filled with repetitive, challenging routines. The first four days were so hard that I almost bought a plane ticket back home. But I persevered, drawing on my willpower to continue.

Kung Fu: Releasing Tension and Finding Clarity

Kung Fu taught me about energy. I had carried a lot of tension from childhood, and this practice helped release it. The clarity and calmness I gained were incredible. This place, nestled in the mountains, is magical. Time slows down, distractions are fewer, and I even deleted all my social media to connect with myself.

Detachment and Self-Discovery

One of the most significant parts of my journey was learning to detach. Coming here helped me let go of the final things I was holding onto, such as social media, some friends, and even my girlfriend.

More Than Just Cool Moves

Kung Fu has always fascinated me, from Bruce Lee's cool moves to its deeper aspects. It’s about understanding inner self, nature, energy, and chi. It connects us to our bodies and nature, teaching willpower and perseverance. Kung Fu can be monotonous and tough, but this hard work brings growth, learning, calmness, and peace.

Unlocking Life with Kung Fu

The most wonderful thing about Kung Fu is how it unlocks a deeper understanding of life. It’s a key to life that brings peace and fulfillment.

This place finally helped me really reach to the deepest corners of me and really shed a light on the parts that I'm really struggling finding.

I took a radical decision for almost a year now. I found myself in a body I didn't like. I was not proud of myself. I was gaming over five hours a day. I was watching Netflix all the time and I was insecure and I was fat. I was like, yeah, over 20 kilos more. I get angry about myself. And I was like, I need to do something. And I read a book called Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins, which really inspired me to push and start training.

So I started to train six times a week. That was a snowball effect. And then I started to do cold showers and long fasting and started to see results: which started to motivate me more. And at that time I meditated a lot. So I sat down and I meditated. And I meditated for about three hours. And when I was done, I knew exactly what I was going to do. I knew that I needed to sell everything I had, sell my apartment, sell my car, sell all my stuff, quit my job and buy a one-way ticket to Asia.

So in the beginning of my journey, I actually lost 20 kilos and also before I came here, I did a Muay Thai Camp for two months. And also that gave me a lot of transformation on my body and has also been physically tiring. Kung fu has been more exhausting than the Muai Thai camp, but in a whole different way because it's harder on your head sometimes. We have long days. The days are like 12 hours from six in the morning to six in the evening. We have breaks between and it's a lot of repetitive you have to do over and over again. The first four days here was so hard. I almost actually bought a plane ticket back home because I was like, I cannot do this anymore. I was pretty down and really had to bring up the willpower and to really continue and come to training every day and do the work. So it's been really tough for the mental part.

The kung fu really taught me about energy. You get a lot of tenseness or I have had a lot of tenseness in my body from childhood and I feel like kung fu has really helped me release that tenseness in my body that I've been holding on for so long and have given me a lot of clarity in my head and calmness. This place here is kind of magical. It's like up in the mountains. Time here goes slower, you have less distractions. And I also deleted all my social media to really connect with myself. One of the last steps here that I really discovered and the biggest part of my journey of my self development was doing detachments and coming here helped me really detach from the last parts that I really just holding onto. For example, social media, maybe some of my friends and also my girlfriend.

So kung fu is, it's always been a thing that I interested in. A lot of Bruce Lee, your cool movies, your cool moves, it looks so cool, but it's so much more than cool moves. It's so much more about your inner self and nature and energy and chi and you kind of understand more about our bodies and nature and how we are connected to nature and also about the willpower and that you have to do. Kung fu is a boring thing and you have to do the hard work and it's tough and you have to do it all over yet, but you know that if you do that stuff, you will get far and you will grow and you will learn a lot and you will get calm and you'll be in peace with yourself. So I think that's most wonderful thing with the Kung fu is key to life almost to unlock your life and understanding of life.
