Meet Prisca:
The discovery of my life.

My journey with the Nam Yang began in 2021, during a time when much of the world was standing still. I had always felt a deep, magnetic pull toward martial arts but never had the opportunity to truly explore them. By a stroke of luck, Thailand’s borders were open during the COVID-19 pandemic, so I packed my bags. I started by trying Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu, but then I found Nam Yang. What was supposed to be a quick one-week visit turned into a deeply transformative month. It touched me profoundly; it was exactly what I didn't know I needed. Yet, it was incredibly difficult. Sitting still for meditation felt completely impossible to me, and the relentless repetition of the same movements was incredibly frustrating. But beneath that struggle, it was brilliantly challenging. I eventually had to leave to return to France to finish my studies, but a seed had definitely been planted.
Back in France, life moved forward. I completed my studies and earned my Master’s degree in Environmental Education and Communication. For the next two years, I worked professionally in that field, but my mind kept wandering back to the mountains of Thailand. I spent those two years saving up, driven by a specific goal: I was going to return to Thailand for three months, immerse myself in the practice, and let the journey unfold from there.
The come back: Student to Teacher
In 2024, I finally made my return. I was prepared for a three-month journey, but by the second month, everything changed. Master Iain approached me and asked me to join the teacher training program to become part of the team. Even though I felt it was very early in my journey, I accepted without hesitation. Master Iain believed in me and pushed me beyond my limits, and it quickly became one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Instead of staying for three months, I stayed almost two years. After a rigorous one-year internship, I officially became a Kung Fu instructor. This milestone allowed me to stay at the school and train for free simply by teaching others, which was an absolute blessing.
My testimony 2 weeks after returning at Nam Yang in 2024:
My personal growth.
Looking back, the personal evolution I have gone through is hard to put into words. The restless person who couldn't endure five minutes of meditation has found a deep, grounding inner peace. The physical and mental discipline of Kung Fu reshaped my entire mindset, teaching me resilience, extreme patience, and the true meaning of commitment. I transformed from a curious beginner, overwhelmed by the repetition of basic stances, into a confident instructor capable of guiding others on their own paths.
My second family.
Kung Fu is truly one massive global family, and it is a family I am incredibly happy and proud to be a part of. I deeply hope that thousands more people will join us to experience this beautiful journey together. Being part of this community allows us to discover people from all over the world, whether right here at Nam Yang or through our travels to share our knowledge.
For example, one of the highlights of my experience was our trip to Malaysia in October 2025. I was able to join Master Iain on a trip to Malaysia to visit Master Boy. During this trip, we had the honor of performing three different demonstrations in front of esteemed Chinese masters and practitioners of Tai Chi, traditional Kung Fu, and Wushu. It can sometimes feel like a very closed and traditional world, but even as Westerners, we were warmly welcomed and earned a profound sense of recognition and respect. It showed me that true dedication to the art transcends all borders and backgrounds.
Today: A new chapter.
These two years of experience at Nam Yang ended with another beautiful turn: I became a mother. This new chapter is the reason I left in January 2026 to return to France and be close to my blood family. However, my martial arts journey is far from over. Today, my project is to open a Nam Yang branch right here in France, where I live. I am determined to never give up and to continue supporting Master Iain and the Nam Yang family with all my heart.
Even from France, I am proud to keep working for Nam Yang. I handle the admin side, which means I am the first contact for you : our future students. I answer all the questions, give advice, and manage bookings and payments. It makes me really happy to stay involved every day and do my best to share this art and this incredible experience with as many people as possible.
