Happiness is important. It is a basic human need!

Kung Fu philosophy is based on the three main philosophies which have influenced China: Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism.

We have decided to share with you a series of videos which form a part of our online training program. Master Iain introduces a 10 step plan to happiness based on Kung Fu philosophy and wisdom. We will publish a new video each week until the series is complete.

Step 1: happiness is the way.

"There is no way to happiness: happiness is the way" -Buddha

This is the first of Master Iain's 10 steps to achieve happiness according to the philosophy of Kung Fu. Make a conscious choice to be happy every day!

Step 2: don't delay behing happy - start now!

Don't delay being happy - start now!

This is the second of Master Iain's 10 steps to achieve happiness according to the philosophy of Kung Fu. Don't delay being happy - start now! If you decide that you will be happy when you get a new car then in truth you are deciding that you will be unhappy until you get that new car. Bad mistake! Choose to be happy now!

Step 3: seek to be - not to have

Work on the way you are: be happy, be relaxed, be confident, be kind, be content, be grateful. These things will make you happy.

Don't expect that having material things will make you happy! Money, cars, houses, boats, aeroplanes, expensive clothes, jewellery. Plenty people have these yet are not happy.

Happiness is about being, not about having.

Step 4: find a job that you love!

Confucious said 'find a job that you love and you will never work a day in your life'. Since we spend much of our lives working it is extremely important that we are happy when at work. Money doesn't justify misery! Seek out a job in which you feel happy.

Step 5: stay on an even keel - avoid big ups and downs!

Strive for a life which is constantly just gently happy.
Big events can bring intense happiness but highs are always followed by lows so we expose ourselves to feeling intense sadness! This is a bad strategy. We should avoid looking forward to big events and instead concentrate on feeling happy all the time.

Step 6: concentrate on building good relationships with friends and family.

The single most important factor in determining how happy you are is the quality of your relationships with those people who are important to you. Usually friends, family and colleagues. Effort spent on building good quality relationships is better spent than effort spent on making money.

Step 7: being nice to others will make you feel good about yourself.

Wait! Wouldn’t it be more fun to be one of the bad guys? Our video explains the psychology behind this dilemma. If you want to feel more happy, watch it and take action!

Step 8: Being liked brings happiness!

Deep down we all like to be liked, we all like to be loved. Treating other people in a way which makes them like us leads to our being surrounded by people who like us. This does a very great deal to make us feel good about ourselves and feel happy!

Step 9: Smile often.

Smiling makes us feel happy! Strange as it may sound, it is true. Try it. In this video, Master Iain explains why smiling makes us feel happy and how we can best take advantage of its unique power. Watch, then get smiling!

Step 10: create a happiness ‘bubble’!

Make an effort to be happy. Every day. Every minute. Expand your happiness out to all those around you and create a 'bubble of happiness'! Before long you will be spending your days surrounded by happy people. Start being happy - and never give up! If you can do this, you have not only understood happiness but also the whole idea of Kung Fu!
