Away from everyday distractions you will be able to fully immerse your self in your training.  You will eat organic, home grown food with Chinese medicinal herbs to clean and heal your body.  You will train alongside a dedicated group of people in a school which promotes the true values of Martial Arts.

Steve will be taking you through the sort of training program which he used to become:

  • English Professional Kickboxing Champion 2016, Super Welterweight.
  • Sanda (Chinese Kickboxing) silver medallist World Championships 2015

You will learn:

  • Unique blend of striking and grappling.
  • In depth breakdown of techniques.
  • How to develop the mind, body and soul of a fighter.

F.A.Q.

Who is this suitable for?

Novice and experienced fighters are welcome, women and men.  You should be fit enough to take part in typical kickboxing classes.

Will Master Iain and the other Kung Fu Retreat teachers be taking any of the classes?

Yes, especially if you opt to learn some Chi kung in the mornings.  Steve will take more than half of the sessions, though.

Should I bring my gloves / sparring pads?

Yes!  We have a limited number of gloves and pads which we can lend out but it is much better to bring your own.  Sorry but we do not lend out groin guards!

INSTRUCTORS

Steve Keen

Steve has trained diligently with Nam Yang since he was 6 years old, never slacking off.  He is now a professional fighter and has competed in a very wide range of competition including Sanda, K1, Muay Thai (both in Europe and Thailand), MMA, Kickboxing and Western Boxing.  As a junior he won many titles in Kung Fu and Lion Dance competitions.  Now 26 and at the peak of his fitness, Steve will share with you the knowledge, technique, skills and wisdom which he has accumulated.

Master Iain Armstrong

Master Iain is a Kung Fu philosopher and author with 36 years of living Kung Fu. Trained personally by Grand Master Tan Soh Tin in Singapore, he’s a two-time world champion and veteran of real street battles. Famous for his high-quality Kung Fu teaching, his instructional films and magazine articles, and for his demonstrations of Iron Shirt Qigong, Master Iain is a mine of information but retains a very practical, down to earth, and realistic approach. Most people who meet him are struck by his air of calm, patience, and wisdom.

Our teachers are our greatest asset.  In any school, and in particular in martial arts schools, nothing makes more difference than the quality, experience and character of the teachers.  They are the people who make the school great.  We know that a great teacher not only needs to know their Kung Fu, they also have to know how to pass it on to others.  We also have a fantastic support team.
